Guest Facilitator - Saturday - Paul Speers - Sound Therapy Practitioner
Paul is a trauma-informed, intuitive sound therapy practitioner and the founder of Sound Bath Studio in Prestonpans, East Lothian. His journey into sound therapy began after experiencing a single online sound bath that profoundly shifted his nervous system and sense of wellbeing. What started as curiosity quickly became a calling.
Within his first year of practice, Paul facilitated over 400 sound baths, guided by deep intuition, presence, and a strong belief in the body’s innate ability to heal when it feels safe. His work is rooted in simplicity, compassion, and nervous-system awareness, creating spaces where people can soften, release, and truly rest.
Paul works with crystal singing bowls, Himalayan bowls, gongs, shruti box, chimes, and voice, using sound not as performance, but as a supportive backdrop for deep relaxation and inner listening. His singing, often woven with affirmations frequently evokes a profound shift in participants that go beyond a regular sound bath experience.
Paul places safety, choice, and regulation at the centre of every session. He understands that healing is not about forcing change, but about creating the right conditions for the nervous system to settle. His intuitive approach allows each session to unfold naturally, meeting individuals exactly where they are.
Paul also offers outdoor hammock sound baths from his studio in the East Lothian countryside. He collaborates with other wellbeing practitioners, blending sound with movement, meditation, Reiki, and storytelling to create deeply immersive, heart-led experiences. At the core of Paul’s practice is gratitude, humility, and a deep respect for the healing power of sound. His intention is simple: to hold space where people can rest, reconnect, and remember who they are beneath the noise.
Guest Facilitator - Saturday - Laura Wilson - Yoga Therapist
Laura is the founding director of Edinburgh Community Yoga and is a Yoga Therapist (2016) specialising in trauma-informed yoga for mental health. She is also an experienced trauma-informed yoga teacher (2012). She has been practicing yoga since 2004 and teaching in mainstream settings as well as in collaboration with third sector organisations, NHS services and Criminal Justice Services since 2012.
Laura is a member of The International Association of Yoga Therapists and bound by their ethics and guidelines.
As a survivor, practitioner, teacher and therapist, Laura has a gift for understanding the complex relationship between the experiences we have, the subsequent patterning laid down in our nervous system and subconscious, and the interplay between body and mind in integrating these experiences. She is motivated by a deep faith in our ability to process, let go and reframe, and finds the rich tapestry of practices offered in yoga to be an extraordinary set of tools for navigating life as a human being.
Laura works therapeutically both in groups and one to one. She writes and delivers workshops on the importance of nervous system regulation practices for stress management in workplace settings. She also writes and delivers training for yoga teachers interested in working in community settings and populations affected by trauma and is a published author, having co-written a chapter on person centred yoga for trauma in the 2024 book 'The Yoga Teachers Survival Guide'.
Her belief is that yoga in all its forms is about building a deeper, more awakened and compassionate relationship with ourselves, so that we can experience the full spectrum of what it is to be human. When we are braced against life’s challenges, we can miss the subtle moments that make life special. And so, Yoga is about creating aliveness as much as it is about calmness, but of course this comes in response to the cultivation of deep, somatic safety. Laura loves the way the practice can teach a new way of being and she never tires of exploring the possibilities that Yoga can offer.
Laura will guide our guests through a Hatha Yoga based session with a focus on the therapeutic aspects of the practice. This will help guests to shake off stress and return home to self. Whether you are numbed out, wired, tired, low, overwhelmed (or all the above) this practice will support you. The session will include a combination of breath, movement and meditation.
